Active Winter Adventure in the Yukon: The itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to your hotel in the centre of the historic town of Whitehorse. Use this day to explore the city on your own and spend some time relaxing at your leisure. You can look forward to plenty of exciting moments and adventures over the coming days!
Day 2: A Birds-Eye-View Of The Region
This morning, you will take a 30-minute scenic flight over the spectacular winter landscape. You will get to see the land from a truly unique perspective — a breathtaking panoramic view over the snow-capped Yukon. Back in Whitehorse, you will discover the history of the town on a sightseeing tour. Whitehorse has a lot to offer and is home to famous sights like the historic Paddlewheeler SS Klondike or a “Skyscraper” completely made out of logs. Later, you will be driven to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve where you can see local inhabitants like the Elk, Moose, Caribou, Mountain Goats and Lynx in their natural surroundings. Not far from here, you will visit the Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs and indulge yourself in the natural hot waters while relaxing in a breathtaking winter mountain setting. In the evening you’ll be back on the road again to seek views of the stunning Northern Lights. Relax in sheltered comfort, or under the starry sky beside a warm fire at one of the tailor-made Aurora viewing locations.

Day 3: Enchanting Huskies Are Waiting for You
Are you ready for an exciting day ahead? Today is the much-anticipated husky tour, where you will be gliding on the skids of a dog sled through the beautiful landscape of the Yukon (1-5 people / sled). Your experienced guide will steer the sled safely through snowy forests and over frozen lakes, while you sit comfortably in the front. En route, you'll stop at a prospector cabin and listen to interesting stories about the history of dogsledding. Later in the evening, your guide will lead you on a tour to the AuroraCentre, where you will hopefully observe the fascinating Northern Lights (including transfers, snacks and beverages).
Day 4: On Fast Tracks Through The Snow
To start your adventure today, you will ride to the mountains near Whitehorse for a detailed snowmobile safety introduction. While driving (2 people per snowmobile), you will pass the snow-covered mountains, frozen lakes with a thick layer of ice and dense forests. Race through the wilderness and feel the rush of adrenaline as you glide through the untouched snow. Warm up in your hotel and watch out for the dancing Northern Lights in the night sky again on another guided tour to the AuroraCentre.
Day 5: Ice Fishing and Snowshoeing on a frozen lake
Today, you will head out for an ice fishing adventure on one of the beautiful lakes in the Whitehorse area. With the help of an ice-auger, you will drill a hole in the ice. The ice on a lake can be from 30 cm to one meter thick! Hot drinks will be available to keep you warm. Take a look around and enjoy the beauty of a winter’s day while waiting for the big catch! If you are lucky and catch a nice trout, your guide will fillet it and cook it on the fire. At the end of the day, you will return to Whitehorse with a record catch of great memories.
Day 6: On a kicksled through the winter wonderland
On this day, you will go kicksledding through Yukon's interesting wilderness routes and most beautiful winter landscapes. To begin with, you will learn the basics so that you are well prepared for your tour over forest tracks and frozen lakes. Thanks to the snow and ice rails of the kicksleds, you can ride over snow drifts and even fresh powder snow and propel it along the ground as easily as a scooter with kicks. Back at the hotel, you can finally sit back, relax and reminisce about the best moments of your trip.
Day 7: Departure
After the eventful days of the past week, you will be transferred to the airport and return home with many wonderful memories and new experiences under your belt!
Accommodation:
During this trip, you will stay in a double room at Sternwheeler Hotel in Whitehorse. For a surcharge, you can book a single room.
Travel Date:
This package starts every day of the week and the travel date can be adjusted accordingly. The trip can also be extended with further activities upon request. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.
